Is The Venture Site a brokerage or Venture Capital firm?
No. We do not invest on our own account or that of other parties. Neither do we manage anyone's money. Our role is strictly that of a matchmaker -- we put you in touch with another party. Once contact has been established, it is up to you to present your investment proposal to the investor concerned - or, if you are the investor, discuss your investment preferences and requirements with the company. You will then conduct any subsequent negotiations yourself, and bear full responsibility for the outcome.
I have a business plan or investment proposal. Is The Venture Site interested? The Venture Site is an advertising and matchmaking service, and as such does not comment on the viability or attractiveness of any business plan or investment proposal. Neither do we invest in companies ourselves. If you are a company looking for capital, you should go through the normal registration process. However, if you are a registered client of The Venture Site and would like us to pass a business plan to interested parties, we will be happy to do so.
How much does it cost to register? Are there any other charges? Companies pay 99 pounds for a Feeler registration, which covers one page of tabulated basic information on the Web and a summary of your project and requirements, distributed to Investors by e-mail. We may, after prior agreement with you, charge you other fees for services which may give your project addtional visibility in the Business Angel market should that be advisable in our view. We charge a standard success fee to 3.5 percent of capital raised once an Investor has agreed to fund your business. In addition, Investors may require fees to cover their own expenses. The Venture Site has no control over such fees and you should make sure you agree on this point before you sign any contracts! There are no charges to Investors.
Can I include my company, brand or product name? No. Registrations on The Venture Site are strictly anonymous. General descriptions are fine, but registrations must not contain any information that could identify your company, staff or products, and any such references that do occur will be removed. All introductions to investors will be effected by The Venture Site.
Does my business need to be incorporated to use The Venture Site? No. We welcome incorporated businesses, sole traders and partnerships alike.
How can I pay for my registration? The Venture Site accepts all major credit cards via a secure online ordering system. If you prefer to pay by cheque, just cancel out of the payment form and you will be invoiced for your registration.
What happens after I register? If you register as a company, you will receive a receipt for your credit card payment. A day or two later, you will receive an e-mail giving your registration number and a pro-forma VAT invoice if applicable. At this time, your web page will be uploaded and your project details circulated to Investors. If you choose not to pay by credit card, you will be invoiced, and your web page will be placed in a non-public area of the site for your inspection. The registration will be activated as soon as payment has been received. Investor registations will be confirmed by e-mail.
